It will be held at the Methodist Camp ground starting around six or 6:30 p.m. This will be a fund raiser for the building fund. If you haven’t attended before you have no idea what you have missed. You must be sure to bring a chair and table. No matter how warm the weather is, it has always been cool by the creek under the big trees.

This last Sunday the parking lot at the Bend Methodist church was vacant, which was very unusual as it is usually full. The reason being that the Annual Conference of the Southwest Texas Conference of the Methodist Church was being held in Corpus Christi and their pastor was to be ordained . . . The conference meets and takes care of church business, and the main reason Pat and Bonnie Millican, Bill and Fran Hulgan, Bobby and Debbie Hicks attended was to witness their Pastor Celia be ordained as an elder in the church. After years of seminary study at Perkins ( SMU) School of Theology and years of preparation, she is now ordained. Her entire family and her fiancé were there to add their blessing and support. With so many attending the event in Corpus and so many others away for other reasons, those who remained at Bend were encouraged to visit another church, just this one Sunday.

Pat and Bonnie were in San Antonio to help their grandson Henry Millican celebrate his second birthday. Bonnie reported that he had lots of little friends helping him enjoy train rides and a petting zoo, right in his front yard. It was great fun even for the adults. Naps were in order all around when it was over. Bonnie reported that you can only take so much excitement.

Charlene Brister reported the Leaning Bluff Lodge was a very busy place this past weekend. The Barefoot cousins had a reunion for the first time since 1997. Bonnie Jean Reed was in charge of contacting everyone and 80 cousins from Wyoming, Arizona and from all over Texas attended. A good time was had

by all and they voted to have it again at the lodge next year.

Jane Clark reported that everything has been fairly quiet on the home front. She and William kept the four grandkids while their parent’s Doug and Kristi Messer and Jamie Houdyshell went to Bastrop Friday and spent the night with brother Danny and Bill Eniss. Saturday they were in Austin where they participated in a military type of obstacle course.

Mike and Lynn McHenry have opened their new business in San Saba.

Friday LaNell Daniel was in Temple at Scott and White for a check up with her doctor. The treatment she has been receiving seems to have been helping her.
