Elm Grove Echoes

The fish fry fund-raiser for the Elm Grove VFD was a huge success! Some say it appeared to be the largest crowd ever. About $17,000.00 was taken in that night with more coming through the mail. Darrell Joyce was the winner of the rifle which was given as a door prize and Glenda Houchins won the jewelry. I was pleased with the bid that won the afghan I had donated to the auction. Thanks to Dwayne Norris for buying it.

There were three tables of 42 players at the tournament after the fish fry. Donna Webb and David Hulme were the first place winners and they are the only ones reported to me.

Marilyn and Michael Suber and I went to San Angelo Saturday for the second birthday party for Sophia Elizondo. Earlier in the day, Amy Tucker and her kids, as well as friends of Sophia’s, joined them at the pool for a swimming party. Stacie and Santos hosted a supper with birthday cake for the rest of us. Sophia was very excited over all her presents especially her pink tricycle which she had wanted very much!

We had a big surprise today! My oldest son, Gerald, and his son, Zane, and grandson, AJ. drove up just before lunch completely unexpected. We had a good visit with them and we really enjoyed AJ. He is three and has a 3 month brother at home who didn’t come along. Zane works on the Rocker B ranch at Barnhart and says they are desperately short handed if you know anyone looking for a ranch job.

Remember the community meeting this Saturday night. We need local folks to get involved. >
