Local couple celebrates 50th wedding anniversary
Thursday, July 31, 2008 • Posted July 31, 2008

On July 5, 2008, Marcos and Anita Gomez were treated to a surprise celebration given to them by their three children, Marcos Gomez, Jr. and wife Cindy, Naomi Saucillo and husband Louis, and Yvonne Contreras and husband Bruno, and numerous family and friends in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The day’s events began with a Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church to renew their wedding vows, which they first took on June 15, 1958, with Father Greg McLaughlin officiating. Following the Mass, a delicious meal of BBQ, beans, potato salad, Spanish rice, tortillas, bread, sweet tea and lemonade was served to the party at the civic center. A dessert of three different cakes was served and the couple opened their gifts. Later that evening the family and friends topped off the celebration with a dance at the Civic Center. Marcos and Anita were introduced by the band as they entered the room in a cloud of bubbles and they had the first dance.

Marcos and Anita would like to express their deepest appreciation to all who helped make their 50th wedding anniversary a joy and success.
