Last Thursday Jolene Lively reported she received about an inch of rain, but closer to Bend the rain was less than that, being just two or three tenths.

Jesse Clark was in the top 20 in the short round and finished up in 6th place in the National High School Finals Rodeo that was held last week in Farmington, N.M..

His fastest time on one calf was 8.2 seconds, which was the fastest time of any, but had some slow time on one calf which kept his overall time down. He won three buckles, a horse blanket and a $650.00 scholarship. Congratulations Jesse.

Doug and Kristi Messer attended Kristi’s class reunion which was held at the Barefoot Fishing Camp this past week. Afterward class mates Sara Wilson, Melissa Norris and her husband Chrispin returned to the home of William and Jane Clark along with Doug and Kristi to cool off in the swimming pool.

Bill and Jo Price attended an all day training session Thursday in Belton for the volunteer Ombudsman program which covers nursing homes in San Saba, Lampasas, Gatesville, Goldthwaite, Belton, Temple, Corpus Cove and Killeen. Attending also was Harrison Hamer from China Creek.

J.C. Barefoot passed away Friday, July 25, in Lampasas. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Friday Jamie Houdyshell, Kristi Messer and mother Jane Clark had a day out. After lunch they attended a movie with the title “Mama Mia.” Jane reported it was one of the funniest musical that she had ever seen.

William and Jane Clark were in Austin Saturday visiting Darnell Boyd who is in the Austin Heart Hospital there.

Rufus and Tommye Cobern attended the Cobern reunion Sunday that was held in Richland Springs. The oldest attending was Ruby Gage who will be 96 in September and the one who came the farthest was Corky Cobern from Ft. Worth.

Overnight visitors in the home of Lola Morris Monday were Dorothy Morris of Round Rock and her sister Bernice Oehlin of Deer Park.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Dixie Hewitt and Malissa Lemons who will celebrate a birthday August 2 and to Dillon Brister whose birthday is August 5.

Congratulations go out to Carl Adams and Dr. Marilyn Brister who will be celebrating an anniversary August 2.
