The San Saba Extension Education Club Council met at the Rylander Library on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Members present were Carol Littlefield, Lynn Blankenship, Mary Jane Dennis, Betty Wilson, and Barbara Porter as well as Carolyn McDowell, San Saba Extension Agent.After President Carol Littlefield called the meeting to Order, the first item of business was the Reading and approval of the minutes from the meeting held on May 4, 2012. The May Event was held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the San Saba Civic Center at Mill Pond Park. There were approximately 50 to 60 guests and members present at this annual presentation. The program was named “Totally Texas” and was enjoyed by all participants. It was decided that the Extension Club would make a donation to the janitor of the Mill Pond Civic Center for all of the help she gave for the May Event on May 8 and 9, 2012. It was very much appreciated by the ladies of the San Saba Extension Education Club. It was also decided that “Thank You” notes would be sent to each one of the 4-H Clubs for their participation and assistance in setting up the tables and getting the room ready for the May Event, both on the day before and the day of the May Event, afterwards.Carolyn McDowell announced that a 4-H Clothing Fun Day will be held on June 6, 2012 at the San Saba High School Homemaking building. They will be sewing “Ear Bud Caseholder Bags”. Also the 4-H Sewing Camp will be held on June 28, 2012 at the San Saba High School Homemaking building. The San Saba 4-H Club Horse Play Days will be held June 5, 12, 19 and 26 at the Rodeo Arena on Highway 16. The Concession Stand will be run by the 4-H Club members.On June 9, 2012, the Richland Springs 4-H Club will hold a Dog Dip and Rabies Shot meet for anybody desiring to have their dogs treated. Donations will be welcome. The 4-H Club State Roundup will be held from June 11 to the 14, 2012. On June 11, Winner Sara Hedley of Richland Springs, San Saba County, will receive her 4-H Scholarship Funds. Also, on June 14, Garrett Ratliff will perform.Abby Dellis will take her exam for her Veterinarian Assistant Certification on June 12, 2012.A motion was made and seconded that the San Saba Extension Education Club donate $500 to the San Saba County 4-H Club for the 2012-2013 4-H Club Dues.The District 7 TEEA Retreat will be held at the Brownwood 4-H Center on August 7 and 8, 2012. The theme of this year’s retreat will be Christmas in August. It was requested that each County furnish at least two items for door prizes and for the live auction, a basket and at least two additional items be donated. All first and second place Cultural Arts Entry winners will be entered at the retreat.The Meeting was adjourned.
