Jodie Ray Newby, 60, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012, in San Angelo, Texas. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Richland Springs Cemetery. He was born on September 12, 1951, to Carnelius A. Newby and Verna Mae Dobry Newby in Brownwood, Texas. His father passed away in 1982 and his mother passed away in l988. In 1990 Jodie moved to Mosaic in San Angelo.Jodie was known to all as a jokester. He was always happy and had a big smile on his face. No paper was safe from his hands. He always tore the paper into strips, folded it neatly, and put it in his special bag. Jodie will be missed by all.Survivors include his brother, CA Newby and wife, Sandra; aunt, Barbara Dobry of Oklahoma; uncle, Robert Dobry of Oklahoma; and numerous cousins of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Jodie’s family wishes to recognize his special extended family at Mosaic and wishes to thank them for all the things they have done for Jodie. Jodie was preceded in death by his parents.The graveside services were officiated by Bro. Richard Vandeventer at Richland Springs Cemetery, Richland Springs, Texas.Heritage Funeral Homes conducted the services for Mr. Newby.
