Three men honored for life saving efforts

Thirteen area Highway Patrolmen attended the awards ceremony honoring Mr. Rojelio Rocha Jr., Mr. Ramiro Rocha, and Mr. Jaime Rocha Jr.at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29th at the County Courtroom for their life saving efforts on behalf of Mr. Richard Harkey. The three men were given the Director’s Award from Department of Public Safety, Colonel Steve McCraw. Stephen Bynum, of the Department of Public Safety welcomed everyone to the ceremony and recognized County Judge Byron Theodosis, County Commissioners, Judge Les Dawson, the honoree’s, Richard Harkey, family and friends. Bynum referred to the Bible story, The Good Samaritan. When there was a man beaten, robbed, and left to die. He was ignored by several men who did not stop and help him, but a Samaritan man helped him and saved his life. On Saturday, February 11th, Richard Harkeywas trapped inside his burning car; others passed by and did not help him, but the Rocha men helped him and saved his life.Rojellio, Ramiro and Jaime work at Hill Country Ford in Goldthwaite. The owners of Hill County Ford, Lanny Gore and Rob Mersinger, attended the ceremony and congratulated the three brave men.
