Richland Springs Board of Trustees approves changes to Student Code of Conduct & Student Handbook
Thursday, July 31, 2008 • Posted July 31, 2008

The purpose of the Student Handbook is to give Richland Springs ISD students and their parents an understanding of the general rules and guidelines for attending and receiving an education in our schools. Our intention is to speak directly to you as adults who are responsible for working with us, the school officials, to make your children’s experience with the Richland Springs public schools a positive educational experience.

As required by state law, the board of trustees has officially adopted the Student Code of Conduct in order to promote a safe and orderly learning environment for every student.

The following changes are effective for the 2008-2009 school year:

a.) The cell phone and electronic devices policy is still in effect. All such items must be stored in the student’s locker during the instructional day

b.) School detention will be after-school detention. Parents will be notified if detention occurs and will be required to arrange pick-up of their children after school.

c.) No pocketknives will be allowed on campus.

d.) No purses or backpacks will be allowed in the classrooms and must be stowed in lockers during class time.

e.) Students bringing locks for their lockers must provide the principal with a key or combination to their lock.

Students should each have a 3-ring notebook with subject dividers, 3-ring paper, pencils, pens, rulers, etc. and bring all the materials to class on a daily basis. All textbooks need to be covered with book covers. The school provides paper book covers for all student use.
