Richland Springs resident dies in motorcycle accident

Richland Springs resident, Thomas Gibson, age 54, died last Saturday evening, July 26th, when the 1993 Kawasaki motorcycle he was driving collided with a car driven by San Antonio resident, Jonathan R. Robinson. Gibson's passenger, Sheila Gibson, age 49, was injured in the accident and transported to the hospital for treatment. The accident occurred at 7:26 p.m., one-half mile east of the city of San Saba on Highway 190, according to DPS Trooper Owens, who investigated the accident.

Gibson was traveling west on Highway 190 when he collided with a 2003 Ford pickup driven by Mr. Robinson, who was traveling east and attempted to turn in front of Mr. Gibson. Robinson was unhurt, but his passenger, Joy Wethern, was transported to Darnell Army Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

Trooper Owens was assisted in investigating the accident by the San Saba Police Department, San Saba EMS and Texas Parks and Wildlife personnel. Robinson was charged with failure to yield right of way when making his left turn.
