As Small as Mustard Seed
James' Juncture
Thursday, May 31, 2012 • Posted May 31, 2012

When my children were small, they sang a song about God which declared, “My God is so big, so strong, and so mighty; there’s nothing my God cannot do!” What a concept. However, God doesn’t always work in such grandiose ways. Sometimes His interjection into earthly matters is subtle, quiet, and virtually unnoticed.Once, when Jesus was attempting to describe the kingdom of God to a group of people crowded around Him, He compared it to mustard seed, the smallest seed one can plant. Yet it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with branches the birds can perch in its shade.Matthew 19:26: Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Our contribution may seem small, but no matter. After all, our God is so big, so strong, and so mighty: there’s nothing our God cannot do!
