The 7th Grade band traveled to Boerne High School on Saturday May 19, 2012 to compete in the “Spring in the Park Music Festival.” The band played music for three judges and received a division one (superior rating) from every judge. At the awards ceremony, the band received trophies for a superior rating, best in class, and overall grand champion for all middle school bands! The judges are quoted as saying “Pound for pound, San Saba Middle School was the most musical middle school band here this weekend.” To my knowledge, this is the first grand champion award to be awarded to a middle school band from San Saba. I am very proud of the band program’s overall success this year, and I hope to build on it in the future. The students enjoyed a well-earned day at Six Flags Fiesta Texas after their performance.
