Colorado Bend State Park celebrating National Trails Day this Saturday
Thursday, May 31, 2012 • Posted May 31, 2012

Colorado Bend State Park is joining other state parks in celebrating National Trails Day on June 2nd with a variety of trail activities. There will be two guided trail runs (appx. 2.5 and 5.5 miles), two guided mountain bike rides (appx. 18 miles of easy-to-technical trails for experienced riders and appx. 5 miles of easy trail for beginners), two Gorman Falls hikes (1 mile just falls, 2.5 miles falls and spring) and a hike called “Sounds of the Night” (1.5 miles). You will need to bring plenty of water with you. For the bike rides, you will need a mountain bike in good working order, a helmet (you will not be allowed to ride with the group without a helmet), and a couple of water bottles for the beginner ride/a hydration backpack for the experienced ride. (If you don’t own a hydration backpack, chances are that you aren’t experienced enough to do this ride. Stick with the beginner ride.) If you prefer to hit the trails alone or with your own group, grab a map and some water and get out there! Know your limits! Be safe! Have fun! Unsure of your abilities on trail? Go on one of the guided trips, show up early, and ask questions! All National Trails Day events are free. Park Entrance fees apply. Website: http://friendsofcoloradobend.com/
