The 74th Annual San Saba Rodeo kicks off tonight with County Team Roping. No charge to watch and Bull Burgers will be ready to serve.The Livestock and Rodeo Assn. has given free rodeo tickets to all three county schools, K-4th grades, and they must be present for the chance to win a new bicycle. There will be four bicycles given out each night courtesy of Capital Farm Credit. Don't let your kids miss out on the opportunity.The Mutton Bustin' will start it all at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Official Rodeo time is 8:00 p.m both nights with a 7 and under barrel racing event just before the Pros. The Grupo Destello Band will play the Rodeo dance on Friday night, with the Gordon Collier Band on Saturday night. The Crazy Country Cookoff will be going Friday all day long with Menudo being the main dish. Barbecue will be the competition on Saturday. Winners will have a 100% payback and an added $1,000 dollar purse for this barbecued sanctioned cookoff.If all of this is not enough and you don't like Rodeo---take the family to the Carnival where Thursday, Friday and Saturday are wristband nights.The following is the lineup information for the Rodeo Parade at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012. The parade route will begin at the corner of 7th and Commerce, continue around the East side of the Courthouse to Wallace, then west on Wallace back to the school.1. All horses, wagons and carriages will gather on the vacant lots at the Elementary School on 6th, 7th and Church Streets.2. All floats and decorated vehicles will gather on the parking lot between the old gyms at the corner of 9th and Commerce.3. Bicycles, golf carts, ATV's and motorcycles will gather at the Middle School parking lot at 10th and Wallace.4. Implements will gather on each side of the street at 10th, 11th, and Commerce Streets.There will be people at each of these places to help direct where to be and to give instructions where to enter the parade route.The entries must be in place at 3:00 p.m. and judging will begin at 3:30. Three places for each division will be awarded with rosettes for all 1st places and ribbons for 2nd and 3rd. For the mounted awards, the oldest, youngest and best-dressed (male and female) must be on a horse by themselves--with or without a lead rope.We would like to encourage everyone who would like to participate in the parade to come and be a part of a fun-filled afternoon. For even more fun--load up the horses, the kids and everything, go to the Rodeo, have Bull Burgers for supper, and ride in the Grand Entry!!! This is Rodeo, San Saba style!!!
