It is great to welcome Luke and Janice Whiting to San Saba for a visit. Luke is the son of Dr. Craig and Karen Whiting. This Saturday, Luke and his family will be at Trade Days, selling hamburgers, drinks and popcorn to raise funds for their living expenses while serving as missionaries in Portugal. Luke’s grandmother will be selling her children’s book, “The Little Star,” for $15. She is also donating two original oil paintings which will be raffled off on Saturday. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each, or 15 tickets for $10. Luke and Janice have three children – Elijah (5 years), Judah (3 years) and Isabella Wren (3 months). Luke graduated from Baylor University and Janice graduated from UMHB in Belton. They have been married for 8 years, living in Waco until 8 months ago, when they moved to Portugal. They are currently serving as missionaries in Portugal with a ministry that serves missionaries and pastors called, The Haven. The vision of The Haven is to provide pastoral care, refreshment and restoration to missionaries and pastors in a peaceful environment, so that they can return to the field spiritually revived, emotionally refreshed, and physically renewed. Missionaries and pastors from Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America have been their guests for many different reasons, such as medical care, vacations, sabbaticals, counseling and pastoral care, guided retreats, and even those leaving because of country evacuations. All their funding comes through the generous giving of others. Please come by, enjoy a meal and help support this ministry in Portugal this Saturday, May 26th.
