Melanie Smith offering classes at Performance Talent Boot Camp

Melanie Smith will conduct classes in theatre games and advanced acting for the Performance Talent Boot Camp. She holds a BA degree from Rice University and an MA from Howard Payne University. Certified in six teaching fields, including Theatre Arts, her studies emphasized the works of Shakespeare and other important playwrights. She has also studied theatre at the University of Texas. Mrs. Smith has been involved in UIL One Act Play since 1973, both as a director and as a judge. A Life Member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association, she has presented numerous workshops for TETA and other groups, both for theatre teachers and for teachers in other fields. In 1990, she was named TETA’s “High School Teacher of the Year.”Mrs. Smith will lead students in creative approaches to acting using theatre games. Students will learn a variety of ways to expand their skills and their appreciation of the craft of acting. The Performance Talent Boot Camp will be held June 25-30th.
