74th Annual San Saba County Rodeo one week away

Excitement is mounting as we're just a week away from the 74th Annual San Saba County Rodeo. County Roping gets everything started Thursday night with the concession stand open and plenty of Bull Burgers available. Events continue Friday with the Parade at 5:00 p.m. Look for the accompanying map on page 4 which shows the lineup order, which will begin at 3:00 p.m. with judging at 3:30. The Dixie House Cafe Racing Team will have their fire engine red racing car on display on the west side of the square during the parade and will be giving away their racing T-shirts to the kids. After the parade, they will give a "Burn-Out" exhibition so all the kids need to be there to take in this exciting activity. C&B Carnival Rides will be open with Thursday, Friday and Saturday being wristband nights. Pay one price and ride everything as many times as you wish. Mutton Bustin' kicks off at 7:00 p.m. Friday night, then San Saba Pro Rodeo Days gets started with Gizmo McCracken leading the charge. The Crazy Country Cook-Off sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbecue Society will highlight Friday with Menudo and prizes will be 100% payback plus $1000 added money. Saturdays cook-off will include Brisket, Pork Ribs, Chicken and Beans.There will be a dance each night with Grupo Destello bringing you Tejano Night on Friday and The Gordon Collier Band on Saturday night.Then get ready for wild and wooly Pro Rodeo, San Saba style. Flying C Rodeo Company is sanctioned by UPRA-CPRA-TCRA and you'll experience Pro Rodeo cowboys & cowgirls on Pro Rodeo stock. Gates open for the rodeo at 6:00 p.m.& the rodeo officially starts at 8:00 p.m.
