Fallen Officer Memorial held at Texas Department of Criminal Justice San Saba

The San Saba Unit 2012 of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice held a Fallen Officer Memorial on Friday, May 11th at 10:30 a.m. The Honor Guard “Posting of Colors” was by Officers Daniels, Ledesma, Rainwater and Uhler. Tanner Hawkins, an Eagle Scout, and a Senior at San Saba High School played “Taps.” Warden R. Fox welcomed everyone and explained the importance of the Memorial Service. The Lighting of the Memorial Candle was by V. Deaver, Countroom Clerk; the Missing Officer Table and contents, by F. Beitia, Countroom Clerk; Major M. Griffin gave the Roll Call report. The report included reading thirteen names with 10 killed at “end of watch” and a total of 65 employees in 2011 killed in the line of duty defending society while maintaining incarcerated felons in the state of Texas. Maintenance Supervisor, D. McKinnerney, sang “Amazing Grace” followed by a Poem Of Life read by C. Daniels, Operational Review. Chaplain M. Taylor gave the benediction and the Honor Guard “Retired the Colors.”
