Jordan Cattle Auction
Thursday, May 17, 2012 • Posted May 17, 2012

Receipts totaled 5789 head for the week. The market was very active and demand strong as the beef industry looks toward Memorial Day and we move further away from the pink slime debate. A choice offering was on hand with stocker steers selling $10 higher and stocker heifers $1-$2 higher as good rains throughout a large area gave hope to more grazing this summer. Feeder steers were $5 higher and feeder heifers were $3 higher. Packer cows and bulls all sold steady with the top cow at $95 and bull at $112. Pairs were $100 - $150 higher and bred cows were steady.Steers: choice lightweight calves 200-280, choice medium weight calves 165-216, choice heavyweight calves 145-171Heifers: choice lightweight calves 165-270, choice medium weight calves 145-184, choice heavyweight calves 135-149Yearlings: choice lightweight steer yearlings 132-146, choice heavyweight steer yearlings 120-132.50, choice lightweight heifer yearlings 120-133, choice heavyweight heifer yearlings 115-130, #2 steer calves and yearlings 120-165, #2 heifer calves and yearlings 115-150, shorties and plainer calves and yearlings 100-130Bred Cows: choice bred cows 1200-1600, medium to good bred cows 1100-1190, plainer and older bred cows 860-1090Slaughter Cows: high yield 85-95, medium yield 78-84, low yield 65-77, heiferetts and young stockers 90-120Bulls: high yield 107-112, medium yield 101-106, low yield 98-100, feeder 98-105Pairs: Choice 1510-2600, medium to good 1200-1500, plainer and older 1130-1190Representative sales:2 C Ranch, Robert Lee, 4 steers, 311 lbs 255.00Means Ranch, Ltd, Van Horn, 13 steers, 258 lbs 253.00Means Ranch, Ltd, Van Horn, 12 steers, 321 lbs, 234.00Spivey & Walton Partners, Lometa, 3 steers, 357 lbs 225.00Means Ranch, Ltd, Van Horn, 29 steers, 336 lbs 223.00Spivey & Walton Partners, Lometa, 7 steers, 411 lbs 216.00Rutherford Ranch, Buda, 4 steers, 519 lbs 176.00Hemphill Ranch Co, Coleman, 7 steers, 532 lbs 175.00Dr. Marty Hughes, Goldthwaite, 20 steers, 614 lbs 171.00Hemphill Ranch Co, Coleman, 4 steers, 659 lbs 164.00Gray TV Ranch, Ltd, Brady, 3 steers, 613 lbs 160.00Ratliff Land & Cattle, Llano, 4 steers, 663 lbs 157.00Dr. Marty Hughes, Goldthwaite, 14 steers, 692 lbs 155.00Walker Wells Ranch, Pecos, 3 heifers, 190 lbs 265.004 D Ranch, Lipan, 4 heifers, 484 lbs 165.00Hemphill Ranch Co, Coleman, 24 heifers, 463 lbs 163.00Henderson Ranch, Voca, 10 heifers, 542 lbs 159.00Concho Lime, LP, Eden, 7 heifers, 636 lbs 141.00Mike Welch, Goldthwaite, 2 heifers, 660 lbs 137.00McNeil Ranch, Seminole, 40 angus pair, 1st calf, 2150.00Roy C Lehmberg, Mason, 1 steer, 555 lbs 179.00Horace Oestriech, Llano, 3 steers, 568 lbs 168.00Broke H, Art, 11 steers, 560 lbs 165.00Jim Blake, Santa Anna, 4 steers, 566 lbs 160.00Tim Schmidt, Mason, 7 steers, 629 lbs 149.00Larry Jennings, Sonora, 3 steers, 633 lbs 146.00Broke H, Art, 4 steers, 711 lbs 146.00Dayton Spaeth, Mason, 5 heifers, 531 lbs 157.00Tim Schmidt, Mason, 18 heifers, 638 lbs 149.00Horace Oestreich, Llano, 3 heifers, 662 lbs 132.00on, 5 heifers, 531 lbs 157.00Tim Schmidt, Mason, 18 heifers, 638 lbs 149.00Horace Oestreich, Llano, 3 heifers, 662 lbs 132.00
