Ladies Golf Notes

The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met May 10, 2012 for play day with the Chair for May, Anita Miles, calling for a game of “Nine” - where nine points are given for each hole, according to the lowest score and down, divided by the three players on the team. First Place was a tie between Anita Miles and Hattie Rogers. Anita also scored the Low Gross for the day, scored a birdie, and split the Putt Pot with Dorothy Sterner. Sandee Hartley won the Chip In Pot and also scored a birdie. Jo Anne Hardy and Jo Ann Snow rounded out the field of players. The ladies are preparing for the Summer Four Lady Pecan Classic Tournament scheduled for June 23, 2012. The ladies are only sponsoring one tournament this year, as they are so few in number but we expect it to be a really good tournament. Wayne Churchill brought out the new plaque that was presented by his family in memory of Bobbie Churchill. It is a beautiful award that will hang in the pro shop and is a very fitting memorial for Bobbie. It features a picture of Bobbie on it and will be awarded each year to the most improved players, both men and women and high school boy and girl. The award for 2011 Most Improved Lady was Jo Ann Snow and Most Improved Man was Don Riggs. We appreciate Frank Churchill for donating this beautiful plaque to the Golf Association to be presented through the years in memory of Bobbie! Golf is good and the rains have produced a beautiful array of greenery at the San Saba River Golf Course. You’re missing out if you’re not ‘swinging!’
