The rain reports were all good around the Bend. Tuesday one and seven-tenths was reported and on Thursday one and nine-tenths was reported. Jane Clark reported that their rain gauge for the week showed five inches. It was a very welcome rain as it was badly needed.Lesa Preece gave a report on all her activities this past week. She seems to always be on the go! She was in San Saba last Saturday to attend grandson Harbor’s T-ball game. Lesa and Harbor went to Bend while his mother Malissa Mims worked in the concession stand. That night she took Harbor, her mother Malissa Lemons to eat at the Texas Road House in Killeen, where they were joined by Bruce and Moira Lemons, Kristen Preece and Ytaga Field it was reported everyone had a very good time. Harbor and his mom Malissa Mims spent the night with Lesa Saturday night. On Mother’s Day she celebrated with family members Eric and Ashley Hernandez and Kristen Preece, friend’s Malissa and Harbor Mims and Brenda Smithhart Wilds.Charlene Brister reported that 300 people attended Jackie’s birthday bash last weekend. That’s a crowd in anybody’s language!Jane Tinney reported that she had a very nice Mother’s Day. She received chocolate-covered cherries and a cheesecake from Gary, Melinda, Jacob and helby Freeland of Canyon Lake and a phone call from them. Mindy, Brady, Nicholas and Erica Freeland called to wish Jane a happy Mother’s Day and told her of all their activities, the upcoming ballet recital and the baseball tournament and told her to watch the mail for a special surprise.Ann, Jerry Reyes and Kensie Green paid a visit and went for a swim in the creek.Patsy Henniger reported that her day was made special by her son Mickey from Cedar Park and Pete, his wife Cherie, grandchildren Madison, Nick, Anthony, Josh and Nick’s friend Dalton of Lampasas. They all ate lunch with her and R. J. and did lots of visiting and enjoyed the beautiful weather.Family members gathered at the home of Jim and OraBeth Hicks to celebrate two events, Jim’s birthday and Mother’s Day. A special dessert was made by Mary Hicks for everyone to enjoy.Bobby Clark, Doug, Kristi and children Jordan, and Jaylee Messer, along with Jamie Houdyshell and children A. J. and Andrew celebrated Mother’s Day at the home of William and Jane Clark.Thursday night William and Jane attended Andrew’s award program for grades 6, 7 and 8th grades in Lampasas. Jane reported that A. J. broke his arm just above his wrist last week while playing kick-ball at school.Pat and Bonnie Millican spent the weekend in Ft. Worth. It was graduation weekend at TCU, but more importantly it was the 50th anniversary of Pat’s graduating class of 1962. They were invited back to the university for a reunion and to participate in the graduation ceremony itself. TCU honors each 50th reunion class by bringing them back to the campus and outfitting them in cap and gown so that they can march in with the graduation class and be recognized as a group . Of the nearly 700 in his class, about 50 showed up. Time takes a toil. They were glad they went and wouldn’t take anything for the experience.The Bend Community will be meeting Saturday, May 19, at 6:30 P.M. Ice cream, cookies and sandwiches will be served. Come and be prepared to have a good time and enjoy Kyla Byrd Duncan who will be providing the entertainment. Everyone is invited to attend. Happy birthday greetings go out to Lesa Preece who will celebrate her birthday along with Peggy Henniger and Terry Marley on May 17, Wilma Jo Byrd will celebrate a birthday May 18, Sunday May 20, Marilyn Brister, Donna Steven, Rodney Steallings and Mae McAninch will celebrate their birthday, Jim Hicks will celebrate a birthday May 21, Jade Hickey and Gail Callahan will be celebrating birthdays May 22.
