San Saba County Commissioners lift Burn Ban

The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, May 14th in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge, Byron Theodosis called the Court to order and welcomed everyone. County Commissioner, Kenley Kroll gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.County Sheriff, Allen Brown, reported on the following:A. A deputy was injured and will be off duty for awhile.B. There was a DWI over the weekend.C. One prisoner was transferred to a medical unit.D. The blacktop in the department parking lot needs to be repaired.E. The narrow band system needs adjustments or new equipment.F. Some critical areas in the county will have increased patrolling for speed limit enforcements. Action was taken on the fol lowing Items:1. The minutes of the previous Commissioners Court was approved.2. The County/District Clerk’s report was approved subject to audit. County Clerk, Kim Wells, reported that early voting for the Primary began this morning. 3. The County Treasurer’s report was approved subject to audit, presented by County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins,4. The County Justice of the Peace report was approved subject to audit. Judge Les Dawson also reported that their office is getting bids to replace an old computer.5. Commissioner Kroll verified the Sheriff’s Jail report.Action was taken on the following Special Items:a. Curve Warning Signs will be placed on County Roads 436 and 444.b. After discussion about the dependability of the older model county owned car, it was approved to sell it at the Llano Public Auction. c. Corrections will be made on the Historical Monument located on the Courthouse lawn.d. Bids are being accepted to repair the roof on the Courthouse Annex to be paid with the SECO Stimulus Grant.e. Approved Resolution of support to Texas Historical Commission for Emergency Funds Award to repair/replace the roof on the Courthouse. The Grant would pay 2/3 of the cost and the county would pay 1/3. f. The Burn Ban that was enacted on April 30th was unanimously lifted because of the recent rains.g. The Accounts Payable’s presented by County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins was approved to be paid with the exception of a bill for windows for the new Fire Department building in the amount of $797.00. h. The next Commissioner’s Court will be Tuesday, May 29th at 9 a.m. Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting.
