Funeral Service for James Richard “Dick” Low, 78, of Alto was Saturday, April 28th at 11:00 AM in the A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church with Dr. Randy Fitzgerald and Rev. Greg Megill officiating. Burial was held in the Low Family Cemetery under the direction of O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Directors.On Wednesday, April 25, 2012, Mr. James Richard “Dick” Low passed away peacefully at his home in Alto, Texas surrounded by family. Dick was born in Cherokee, Texas to Hubert Walter & Clara Bella Hart Low on August 11, 1933. He had a long family history in Cherokee and lived there for a number of years before moving to Alto, Texas in 1973. He was an active member of A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church and enjoyed Campers for Christ. He worked as a Ranch Manager for many years, and he and his wife were homeparents for 14 years at the Methodist Boys Ranch Children’s Home. He loved being outdoors. Above all he cherished his wife Virginia, and his family. Joshua 24:15- “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” He is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert W. Low, Larry Low and sister, Peggy Loper.Survivors include Dick's wife of 57 Years, Virginia Low of Alto, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Patty Low of Alto,Texas; Randy and Paula Low of Alto, Texas; Gregg and Patty Low of Spring, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Foster of Hutto, Texas; brother, John Low of Waco, Texas; grandchildren, Misty and Jeff Duplichain, Heath and Lisa Low, Aaron and Amanda Low, Amber and DJ Middleton, Lance Low, Jessica Low and Alana Low; great grandchildren, Todd, Halle, Jenna, Blair, Brooke, Brianna, James Cooper, Makenzie and Eli.Pallbearers were: Jeff Duplichain, Heath Low, Aaron Low, Lance Low, DJ Middleton and Todd Duplichain. Honorary Pallbearers were: Summers Hassell, Larry Davis, Don Anderson, Roddy Maddox, Robert Broyles, Clinton Stone and Pat Close.
