Richland Springs High School Academic Team for 2012

The Richland Springs High School U.I.L. academic team travelled to Knippa, Texas to compete in the District 30 competition on March 23

Joe Avila, Nick Moore, Jona-than Patino, Wyatt Ramsey, Bri-anna Bradley, Thomas Fowler, Patrick Phillips, Sara Hedley, Dillan Parker, Cheyenne Tharp, Melanie Hedley, Jacob Cohn, Storm Teel, Brooke Vaughn, Brooklyn Mc-Ginty, Tra Williams, and Ty Mann.

The team handled the 400 mile round trip to south Texas and competed well finishing 6

The Richland Springs CX debate teams of Thomas Fowler and Ty Mann, and Jacob Cohn and Graciella Madrigal placed 1

st. The following students competed at the meet:th out of 13 teams in district 30. Sara Hedley won the Lincoln-Douglas debate, and Thomas Fowler placed 3rd in Mathematics. These two students will go to Region IV meet in Brenham, Texas to compete in their respective events. Brook Vaughn medaled in Poetry Interpretation, Patrick Phillips in Current Issues and Events, and Persuasive Speaking. Wyatt Ramsey medaled in Accounting.st and 3rd in district respectively. Thomas and Ty advanced to the State meet in Austin on March 12th. Richland Springs UIL Coordinator Nelson Smith would like to thank all the students for their hard work and dedication. Also a big thanks to Melanie Smith, Pam Starr, Patsy Hall, Jack Sloan, Michael Brand, Paula Miller, Valerie Gossett, Scott Isbell, and Mr. Fowler for their coaching expertise and support.
