San Saba County Pecan Field Day

Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the San Saba County Pecan Growers Association will host the annual Pecan Field Day on May 7th at the San Saba Civic Center. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the program beginning at 9:00 o’clock. There will be a $30.00 registration for those who pre-register and $35.00 at the door. A catfish lunch will be provided by Betty Ann Johnson.

Speakers for this year’s program are: Wade Hibler, Burnet County Extension Agent, Laws and Regulations; Bill Ree, Pecan Specialist, College Station will discuss Pecan Integrated Pest Management; General Orchard Management, Drought Effects and Pecan Disease Control will be covered by Dr. Larry Stein, Extension Horticulturist in Uvalde; Dr. Monte Nesbitt, Extension Program Specialist, College Station, will discuss early harvest varieties, green harvesting and predation..

Several commercial exhibitors will have equipment and products available for your consideration. Time during the program will be allowed for you to visit with these supporters of our educational effort. Capital Farm Credit, Moore’s Service Center, Dow AgroSciences, Womack Nursery Company, Lawson Implement, Savage Equipment and Southern Nut ‘N Tree/PPI are those we know of at this time.

Six Continuing Education Units are being offered for those with Private, Non Commercial, or Commercial Applicator License. (2 General, 2, IPM, 2 L&R.) Please pre-register by April 30
