REGIONAL BOUND! Congratulations to Libby Lasley, Talli Morrison and Ryan Breadner, who have all qualified for the regional track meet to be held at San Antonio on April 27-28. Libby will be competing in the 1600m and 3200m run. Talli will throw the discus, and Ryan will throw the shot put. The athletes will participate in a regional qualifiers’ meet at Brownwood on Thursday. FFA wildlife and horse judging teams competed at area competitions this past week. Mr. Harris is very proud of the accomplishments of both teams. The JH track teams competed at their district track meet in Menard last week. The seven boys and six girls came away with many medals and ribbons. Results will be announced at the Sports Banquet. JH tennis players competed at their district meet at Brady last week. Doubles players and mixed doubles players Holly Vaughn and Yensi Dozier and Carter Wisdom and Ashlynn Ake won 2nd place in their match-es. Others who did very well were Seth Hahn in singles, Nicole Arredondo, Sophia Monroe, Tori Morrison and Tori McGowan in doubles. The 2012 Relay for Life was held at Risien Park in San Saba this past weekend. Once again, Cherokee was very well represented. In fact, Cherokee’s own “sisters” Mr. Rouse and Coach Steele, AKA Marcella and Stella, won the beauty pageant. Senior Cham Fox represented the Cherokee Home for Children’s team. According to those who lasted until the 1 a.m. pageant, they were awakened by the sight of the “ladies”! The school’s team and the Cherokee Home for Children’s team raised lots of money for cancer research.
