Drews celebrate 60 years

Kenneth and Laverne Drews were recently honored by their family and relatives for their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married Easter Sunday morning, April 13, 1952 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Harlingen, Texas. They lived in the Lower Rio Grande Valley until moving to San Saba County in June, 1971, where they were teachers in San Saba I.S.D. until their retirement. They are members of San Saba's First Baptist Church.Kenneth grew up on a farm in the Valley and is a graduate of Harlingen High School (1944) and Pan American University at Edinburg, Texas. He was a postman for 20 years at Harlingen and Weslaco and was a teacher for 22 years.Laverne grew up in Brown county and is a graduate of Zephyr High School and Howard Payne University at Brownwood. She was a teacher for 40 years before retirement.Their three children are Robert Drews and wife Cynthia of Springtown, Texas, David Drews and wife Consuelo of McAllen, Texas and Kennewick, Washington, Barbara Drews of Brownwood, Texas and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
