Ila Mae Boren

Ila Mae Boren, 83, passed away on April 10, 2012, at her home in San Saba. She was born on November 5, 1928, to John Thomas Gates and Ardelia Mitchell Gates in Pearl, Texas. She lived in and around San Saba for over 40 years.In August of l939, Ila Mae was baptized into The Church of Christ at the age of 11. She married the love of her life, Leon Stokes Boren, on May 17, 1945.Ila Mae was a graduate of Port Arthur Business College. She was a Christian, a helpmate to her late husband, a business woman, a notary public and a rancher. Ila Mae was survived by a sister, Emma Gene Thompson of Belton, five nieces, four nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews and devoted caregivers.Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, two brothers, Volley Jack Gates (Jack) and Aubry Houston Gates (Shorty), a sister, Medene Gates Dossey (Dene), and two nephews.Ministers for the service were David Short of Alabama and Doug Suggs of Cherokee. Pallbearers were Chuck Lincavage, John Lincavage, Dale Scott, Terry Casper, Louis Cisneroz, and Edward Ragsdale.The service was held on April 13, 2012, at 4:00 PM in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was on Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM also at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel.
