The Ordinance is working very well, according to Chief Riggs, and there’s no need for any changes at this time. The Public Hearing was adjourned and the Regular Monthly Meeting was called to order by Mayor Jordan. Cathy Amthor signed in for a Public Comment. Cathy complimented the City Parks Department employees for the outstanding work to keep Mill Pond Park so beautiful and for the City to have a great place for people to enjoy. However, recently when she was there with her grandchildren, she feared for their safety when they were playing on the playground equipment at Mill Pond Park. Families gather in the Gazebo and there is a road between the Gazebo and the playgound area which is dangerous for children. Also, the play-ground equipment is very old and unsafe. Although no action could be taken at a Public Hearing, Mrs. Amthor was assured by the Council that her concerns will be taken seriously and that the City has been aware of this situation. The Council has already discussed the situation and will look into financing and community involvement. Norman Pierce was presented the April Employee of the Month Award. Norman has worked for the Recycling Department for four months. His name was added to the plaque, he received a day off with pay and a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant.
