San Saba ISD has many long-standing and interesting traditions. How about Rogan Field, what about having the only Armadillo public school mascot in the state of Texas, or the ‘Dilloettes, and of course, we can’t forget SSISD’s RICH tradition of having outstanding tennis players. This week I would like to highlight our tennis coach and tennis program led by Ralph Cox. Coach Cox and his successful tennis program is one of those long-standing, rich traditions at SSISD. Coach Cox and his band of tennis warriors just proved again how dedication and hard work brings success. Coach Cox has been working at SSISD, teaching math, speech, PE and coaching tennis for 30 years. This year marks his 18th consecutive year to take a group to the state team tennis competition. And again he will be taking student athletes to post-district play after capturing many first and second place honors at the District 6AA competition. Twelve tennis players will be heading to Odessa for the regional competition in just a few weeks. Year after year it amazes me how Coach Cox pulls together a group of kiddos who work hard, compete well and learn to love and perfect a sport they will play for a life time. At this time in the school year, so many teachers, coaches and staff members have made a positive impact on students. Coach Cox is but one of those mainstays who year after year thinks only about kids and the task at hand and the success that they can have. Thank you Coach Cox for your dedication to students, to SSISD and for another great year of tennis. Good Luck at regional competition!Parents, let us know how we can help you the first day of school all the way until the last day of school!! School is coming to a close quickly.
