Larue Harkey Brooks of Hawkins, TX, was born on September 1, 1936 in Richland Springs, TX to Charles Arthor and Josie Floree Tucker Harkey and passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in Big Sandy, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of Summit Height Church.Mrs. Brooks is survived by her son, Randy Brooks of Las Colinas, TX; daughter, Melody Kay Binns of Upland, CA; grandchildren, Monica Ashley Higgins, J.T. Brooks, Beau Tanner Brooks and Bradi Lane Brooks; and two great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Brooks; brothers, C.A. Harkey and Novell Harkey; sisters, Madeline Edmondson and June House.Services for Larue were held Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Summit Heights Church, Holly Lake, TX with Pastor Edward Crouch officiating.Interment was at Little Mound Cemetery, Upshur County, TX.Services were under the direction of Croley Funeral Home, Gilmer, TX.
