Billie Ruth Patton was taken by the angels to spend her eternity with the Lord on March 28, 2012, at the age of 101 years and six days in Bedford, Texas. She was born in the Colony community, San Saba County, Texas, to James R. Ragsdale and Katherine (Kate) Matsler Ragsdale on March 22, 1911. She outlived all her brothers and sisters.She married Glenn Patton on June 21, 1933. They had one son, Harold Glenn Patton, deceased, and two daughters, Wanda Garrett and Ola Fischer. Billie was a dedicated homemaker and a very accomplished seamstress. Although she and her husband moved to San Antonio in 1957, where she resided until after his death, they continued to maintain their homestead outside of town on Pecan Grove Road as a favorite meeting place for their family. Billie had always considered San Saba to be her “real earthly home” and cherished her memories of her life there. It is also the final resting place for all of her family members who have gone on to be with the Lord. Billie attributed her long life to the grace of God and her dependence on Him and was thankful to Him for her many blessings.Mrs. Patton is survived by her daughters, Wanda Garrett and husband, Joe Bob, and Ola Fischer and husband, Malcolm; granddaughters, Glenna Ritchey, Kathy Jo Buzzard, Deana Salinas and Jeannie Rinehart; grandsons, Chris Fischer, Dean Fischer and Brian Fischer; nineteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Patton, her parents, five brothers, Steve, Roy, Dee, Jim and Quimby Ragsdale; three sisters, Ollie Scoggins, Mary Ragsdale, and Ola Cathey, and a grandson, Markus Garrett.Services for Billie were held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home. She will be interred next to her husband in the Harmony Ridge Cemetery, San Saba County.The service for Mrs. Patton was officiated by Brother Johnny Kimberlin. Serving as pallbearers were; Red Ragsdale, Joe Ragsdale, Chris Fischer, Dean Fischer, Brian Fischer and Guy Buzzard.Memorials may be sent to: South Euless Baptist Church, 1000 Simmons, Euless, Texas 76040, or Harmony Ridge Cemetery Association. Services were under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home San Saba.
