Steel Magnolias advances to Area

On Monday night, April 2, 2012, the Richland Springs High School One Act Play performed in Sonora, Texas. Steel Magnolias was named one of the two Advancing Plays and received three first place ballots from all three of the judges. Menard High School was named the other Advancing Play.Thomas Fowler received a medal for All-Star Crew. Thomas is the light technician, and two weeks in a row, he has saved the show from going overtime by bringing down the lights before the show was over. Thomas received many compliments for his work.Katelynn Teel, who plays Shelby, and Brooklyn McGinty, who plays Ouiser, received Honorable Mention All Star Cast medals. Sara Hedley, who plays the mother, M’Lynn, received the All Star Cast award, and Brooke Vaughn, who plays Truvy, received the coveted Best Actress Award. Other members of the cast are Melanie Hedley and DeAnna Grady.Additional Crew Members are Jonothan Patino, Denim Reeves, Gracie Madrigal, and Remy Wood. Alternates are Gunner Mann and Brianna Bradley.The play is directed by Patsy Hall, Kristen Loudermilk, and Paula Miller. Steel Magnolias will perform next in AREA contest to be held in Fredericksburg on Saturday, April 14. The ensemble would like to invite everyone to come to Fredericksburg to support the one act play in the Area Contest.
