The San Saba Tennis Team played two tournaments this past week. The JV Team played in the Fredericksburg JV Tournament on Thursday, March 22 and the Varsity Team played in the Waco Robinson Varsity Tournament on Saturday, March 24. Playing in JV Tournament were Drew Daniels, Jantzen Bell, Emiliano Zapata, Marissa Anaya and Mikayla Eden. This was a very tough tournament with 20 teams participating and most of them were 4A and 5A schools. Our players competed well but were unable to win any matches. In boys singles, Emiliano Zapata was defeated by Austin Rammell (Smithson Valley) 4-6, 6-3, 3-10. In boys doubles, Jantzen Bell and Drew Daniel were defeated by Smith / Guerrero (Boerne) 0-6,1-6. In girls doubles Marissa Anaya and Mikayla Eden were defeated by Hicks / Zamaro (Smithson Valley) 6-4, 3-6, 4-10. In the Waco Robinson Tournament the Varsity Team came in 3rd as a team behind Taylor and Robinson. Other teams playing in the tournament were Gatesville, Chilton, China Spring, Centerville, Granger, Lorena, and Rockdale.Playing on the varsity team were Lauren Dawson, Joannah Crosby, Joely Haverland, Heather Wilcox, Morgan Jimenez, Karlee Cromer, Josie Dawson , Kristen Isham, Marshal McIntosh, Josh Raiford, Houston Casco, Diego Lara, Aaron Krueger, Gunnar Hibler, Jairo Casco, and Drew Daniel. San Saba came home with six trophies. Joannah Crosby and Marshal McIntosh kept their unbeaten streak in mixed doubles alive by winning first place in Division I Mixed Doubles. They have now won 20 and lost 0 in mixed doubles. Joely Haverland won first play in Division II Girls Singles. Aaron Krueger and Diego Lara won second place in Division II Boys Doubles. Lauren Dawson won third place in Division I Girls Singles.The tennis team will play in the Mason JV and Varsity Tournament on March 29 – 30. On April 2 and April 3 the tennis team will play in the District 6-AA Tournament at Early High School.Individual results in the Waco Robinson Tournament are as follows:
