Hardy wins medalist honors

JACKSONVILLE, FL. Shelby Hardy won the women’s individual title at the Don Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler University with a seven-over total of 73-77—150. This was Hardy’s second collegiate career individual win and comes just one week after she finished as runner-up medalist at the Stephen F. Austin Crown Classic in Lufkin, missing first place in that tournament by just one stroke. In Florida, Sam Houston State finished as runner-up in the team competition. There were 14 teams in the women’s field. The tournament was held at Jacksonville Beach Country Club on March 12th & 13th, with the women playing on a par 72; 6,079 yard layout. Next, the Bearkats play at the Houston Baptist intercollegiate in Sugar-land before heading off to the Southland Conference tournament which is hosted by Texas State this year. Also this week, Shelby was called forward from a select group of students to accept one of the most prestigious awards the academic community can bestow — selection to Who’s Who Among Students. This exclusive honor is conferred by more than 2,842 schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and is symbolized by the presentation of an award certificate. Who’s Who Among Students honors students from universities and colleges as well as junior colleges. The national recognition by the Who’s Who program marks a pinnacle of scholastic achievement.
