Collins-Oliver engagement announced

Karen Maureen Collins and Leonard Lee Oliver, Jr., wish to announce their engagement and upcoming marriage. Their wedding is planned for October 25, 2008, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bethesda, Maryland.

Karen is the daughter of Captain John P. Collins, Jr., U.S. Navy Retired, and Mrs. Rosemary Collins of Silver Spring, Maryland. She is the granddaughter of the late John P., Sr., and Marie Collins, and Elizabeth Miedwig and the late John Miedwig.

Karen is a 1997 graduate of Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Wheaton, Maryland, and a 2000 graduate of The University of Maryland at College Park with a B.S. in Behavior, Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics.

Leonard is the son of Attorney and Mrs. Leonard Lee Oliver, Sr., of Brady, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Ernest Lee and Leatha May Mitchell Oliver of Cherokee, Texas; the late Roy Maxwell, Jr. of Elm Grove, Texas; and the late Kathleen Huson Maxwell of San Antonio, Texas.

He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio in 1997, and from The University of Texas in Austin with a B.S. in Biology in 2001. Leonard will graduate from Texas State University in San Marcos in December with a Master's in Aquatic Resources.

Karen and Leonard met in the Philippines while serving in the Peace Corps from 2003-2005. Karen lives in Ingram, Texas, and is employed by the United States Department of Agriculture as a Biology Technician. Leonard lives in San Antonio, Texas, and is employed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in Austin.
