Thursday, March 22, 2012 • Posted March 22, 2012

Early Saturday morning the Sheriff’s Office responded to the Bend store for the report of a burglary. Sometime during the early morning hours on Saturday the 17th, an individual or individuals had broken into the back of the store and stolen beer, snuff and several other small items and then even stole part of the door that they had broken into. The Sheriff’s office began to conduct an investigation and during the course of this investigation discovered that the Bare Foot Fishing Camp, also located in the Bend had been vandalized as well. Someone had driven a vehicle through the gate and broken it open, causing several hundred dollars worth of damage to the gate. The Sheriff’s office spoke with numerous individuals at the fishing camps and working through the different information provided, was able to focus on a suspect who lived in the Bend area. The suspect was contacted and during the course of the investigation the following facts were uncovered. Four adult male individuals, one from the Bend, one from Lampasas and two from Austin broke into the Bend store not once but twice in one night to steal alcohol and tobacco products. It was discovered through statements that all four of the individuals were intoxicated and that these same four individuals were responsible for the damage at the Bare Foot Fishing Camp as well. Sheriff Brown stated that the names of the suspects will not be released at this time, but warrants for the arrest of the four individuals and grand jury indictments will be sought.
