Students and staff enjoyed a 4-day weekend. Lots of us are adjusting to not having a Spring Break week. Maybe it’ll be worth it when we’re enjoying days off when others are in school!At press time, results are not available for Sam Martin and Bobby Hamilton’s State CX Debate at Austin. I know they’ve enjoyed the UT campus and the State Capitol!Recently, both the high school and junior high track teams participated in the Zephyr Relays. In high school news, Libby Lasley won the 3200 meter run and placed 3rd in the 800 meter race. Talli Morrison got 8th in the discus. Sidonie Vega participated in the triple and long jump. Barbara Uribe got 6th place in the 800m race. Ashlyne Lanza got 2nd in the 200m dash. Nishady Lanza, Ashlyne Lanza, Uribe and Lasley got 5th in the 1600m relay. Payton Tatsch, E.J. Borchers, Bobby Hamilton and Cham Fox earned 4th place in the 400m and 1600m relays and 5th in the 800m relay. Tatsch got 2nd in the long jump and 3rd in the triple jump. Stephen Austermann got 8th place in the shot put and discus. Israel Trinidad got 8th place in the 800m race. Jordan Menchaca won the JV division 300m hurdles.In junior high track news, the Indians experienced a fast-paced ribbon meet at Zephyr recently. Ribbons of all colors were won. Participants were Tori Morrison, Yensi Dozier, Sophia Monroe, Nicole Arredondo, Ashlynn Ake, Tommy Henegar, Rolando Davis, Uriel Arredondo, Kerry Hamilton, Seth Hahn, Carter Wisdom and Adam Sanchez.Mr. Rouse and his biology classes traveled to the San Antonio Zoo last week to study animal behaviors and eating habits. Thanks to the Morrison family for providing lunch for everyone.On Tuesday, the 20th, junior high will participate in the Menard track meet. High school will travel to Menard on the 22nd. On Friday, the 23rd, high school UIL will travel to Knippa for the district UIL meet.Good luck to all athletes and academic UIL participants!
