FCCLA Regional Officer

Being an FCCLA officer is not an easy task. Ana Karen Guerrero has been preparing for this position for two years. She ran for this position last year but was not selected.So, for the last 12 months she has been preparing once again for her desire to become a Regional FCCLA Officer - or as the FCCLA members refer to them as “Red Coats”.FCCLA Officers wear a distinguishable red blazer for part of their uniform and are looked to for leadership and guidance by all other FCCLA members. It is truly an honor to be selected as an officer. The positions are for a year and each officer have different duties and requirements depending on their title.As Ana prepared to run for office, she studied all the information she could possibly obtain to learn about FCCLA. She studied the history, programs, mission and duties.She took quizzes and spoke with former officers. Ana created a one minute speech that she would deliver to a room full of voting delegates during the Regional competition in Abilene. It was finally time for Ana to show off all her knowledge and skills that she had been preparing for over the last two years.Ana gave her speech and spoke with confidence - answered questions and spoke like a true leader. At the end of all the voting, testing and interviewing... Ana was selected to serve at this years 2012 - 2013 Region II Officer of Parliamentary Law.Ana will be traveling this summer for more training in June and will be working with officers from across the state to serve FCCLA members not only in Region II but all regions of Texas. “We are very proud of her efforts and we are confident that she will be a great representative for San Saba and FCCLA.” says Mrs. Rogers, Advisor for SSHS FCCLA. “She has a very busy year ahead of her.”Ana says her future goals include becoming an FCCLA advisor and Family & Consumer Science teacher after high school. Mrs. Rogers said, “I am sure with her talent and abilities she is already well on her way to being a role model for all future students.”
