Lynn Blankenship has been volunteering at Eventide Nursing Home for the past fifteen years. She knows a great deal about the history of San Saba and our residents are always eager for her to share some of her knowledge and occasionally her large array of photos. She knows just what to do and what to talk about with each, as she gets to know them personally. We are so thankful for this wonderful woman and just wanted to take time to honor her.Let's get to know Lynn a little better...What is your most treasured memory?Living next door to my grandparents until I was nine is the source of many wonderful memories. What programs/club are you associated with, involved in?The first organization I joined when coming to San Saba was the Wallace Creek Extension Education Club. It was through them, that I began coming to Eventide in 1996. I also am a member of the Friends of the Rylander Library, San Saba County Museum, the County Historical Commission and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.Tell us about your husband. My husband, Jerry and I were married almost 47 years ago in Louisville, KY. He is a retired mathematician and is currently teaching part-time at San Saba High School. We have one son, a fantastic daughter-in-law and two grandsons who live in Austin. How long have you volunteered here at Eventide, and what does it do for you?I have been coming to Eventide for 15 years and have learned a lot about San Saba County, Texas and life from my friends here.Tell us about your involvement with the History of San Saba.Much of my time is spent on projects that help the many people who are researching their ancestors who lived in San Saba County. One ongoing project is building an index of the obituaries that are found in the San Saba News which is on Microfilm at Rylander Library. The index is on the Rylander website at: www.sansabalibrary.org.What is your motto in life?Procrastination is not necessarily a bad thing. What is your greatest regret? That I do not enjoy keeping a diary that would help me remember the details of a lot of great memories.
