Still waiting for the rain which is badly needed. The pecan gathering is in high gear.

The Bend Community Meeting will be Saturday, November 17 at 6:30 and the meal will be covered dish. Everyone is asked to bring a dish and/or a dessert. After a business meeting games will be played so bring your favorite game. Be prepared to have a good time.

Jerome and Shirley Meischen and fourteen other relatives traveled to Leander to watch grandson Blake Gideon and David McBride play football. Leander and Cedar Park played the last district game. The two teams are big rivals. Blake has friends on the Cedar Park team and they hugged each other before and after the game, after all it is just a game and friends are friends. Leander won the game 34-23, which puts them in the playoffs. They will play Killeen Ellison Friday night, November 16 at Leander. You just know the cheering squad will be there to root for the team.

Malissa Lemons, Winnie Lou McCoury, Jane Clark and LaNell Daniels were at the School Creek Community Center Sunday night listening to the Messengers who presented the musical program. Winnie Lou reported that the program was good and the meal afterward was also good. A good time was had by all.

The Musical Tribute in Honor of American’s Veterans featuring the Heights Concert Band that was held at the First Baptist church in San Saba Sunday night was outstanding. There was a large group of veterans who attended the event and just about every branch of the service was represented. Ted and Anna Bell Brown, George and Mary Lou Dennis, Bill and Jo Price, Jerry and Charlene Reavis were some of the people from the Bend area who enjoyed the program along with others from San Saba County.

A shower was held this past Saturday at the Bend Methodist church for Geoffrey Millican, son of Pat and Bonnie Millican.

Barbara Jones, Bill and Jo Price ate lunch in Lampasas Sunday after church and then played dominoes with Elo Henniger. Barbara and Jo won two out of three games, but all the games were really close. You know in dominoes as in all other games close doesn’t count.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Boyd Clark and Bill Arms who will be celebrating a birthday November 21.

Congratulations go out to Raymond and Lewvon Hicks who will be celebrating an anniversary November 18, to Emerson and Gladys Brister who will celebrate an anniversary November 19, and to Don and Eileen Portie who will celebrate an anniversary November 20.
