By the time this article comes out in the San Saba News, SSISD will only have fifty-six (56) school days left. To put it in our students’ terms, OMG! Oh my gosh, is right! I can’t believe that the school year has flown by so quickly. These last 56 days will be filled with so much it will be hard to keep focused on what is most important. Let’s see 56 days….what does that mean? Fifty-six days is still 392 hours of instruction!!! I know our teachers are working hard trying to cram each bit of information into the precious time that they have left. Also within the next 56 days we will administer 65 different tests counting TELPAS in grades K-12, new End-of-Course Exams, TAKS, and STAAR tests. Most of these assessments are given in the four core areas in grades 3 through 11. So what else is going between all the testing? Fifty-eight District level sporting events, not counting regional and state competitions, we have our UIL District Literary events, FCCLA regional and state events, band competitions and much, much more. The students, teachers and sponsors certainly have a spring full of events. Our kiddos and our staff should be commended for being able to juggle all the demands of today’s educational system. Students and teachers have to be performing at peak performance to keep up the demanding schedule that is called school. As we approach Texas Public School Week – March 5 – 9, please remember the staff of San Saba ISD and the kiddos that attend our public school system. Both students and staff work very, very hard to make the most out of each and every day. I have always had the belief that students should participate in each and every thing that they have available to them. The time while attending public school and graduation presents opportunities that only comes along once in a life time, and it is a shame if kiddos don’t take advantage of the full benefit of these once in a life-time offerings. Fight hard Armadillos to make the final 56 days the best it can be! It will be all over in a blink of an eye, so don’t have any regrets! Go ‘Dillos!Parents, let us know how we can help you the first day of school all the way until the last day of school!!
