The Indians finished their basketball season last Tuesday with a very close game against Lometa. Spring sport practices are now going full force. Schedules will be sent out soon for the various meets. On Wednesday, FFA officers and members traveled to Austin to attend the premiere of Deep in the Heart, the true story of Richard Wallrath, whose passion for FFA and 4-H has helped many students. Students enjoyed meeting and having their picture taken with the celebrities. On Friday night, the Cherokee staff and alumni took on Sheriff Brown and his posse at the Sheriff’s Office for a friendly (ahem!) game of basketball. Brown tried all tactics, including suiting up Freddy (the K-9) and quite possibly tipping the clock keepers, but the Indians were too much for him and his posse. The Indians led 31-8 at the half and ended up SOUNDLY defeating Team 9-1-1 by a score of 69 to who-knows-what! I happen to know that many of the players from both teams were pretty sore on Saturday morning, but it was all worth it! This week is FFA Week at CISD. The FFA members are speaking to younger students about the many programs and benefits of the FFA program. On Wednesday, students are encouraged to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up. March 23rd and 24th are school holidays. Enjoy your 4-day weekend and be safe.esday, students are encouraged to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up.
