The Armadillo Basketball team hosted Comanche for their final game of the season on Feb. 14. Comanche came into this game needing a win to assure them of the third place playoff spot. It was an exciting one from start to finish! Both teams traded baskets in the first quarter and scored 16 pts each. In the second quarter the Dillos took a four-point lead by outscoring Comanche 16-12. Half time score was 32-28 in favor of the Dillos. In the third quarter, the Dillos increased their lead to five, outscoring Comanche 18-17 in the third. In the fourth quarter, Comanche climbed their way back in it outscoring the Dillos 19-14 and sent it to overtime. Comanche won the overtime period 13-10, and won the game 77-74. Clayton Perry led the scoring for the Dillos with 17 pts and also had 3 steals. Luke Cox had a good game also, having a double – double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, and had 2 blocks. Ryan Pannell played well too, scoring 12 points and had 7 rebounds. Sophomore Kelan Verette came on strong also and had 11 points and went 6 of 6 from the free throw line. J.T. Mathis had 9 points and 5 assists, Zack Davis had 7 points, Tanner Hawkins had 2 points, and Aaron Perez had 1 point. It was a great team effort. And even though we came up a little short, I was very proud of the way our guys performed.
