Shared Blessings serves many purposes
Thursday, February 23, 2012 • Posted February 23, 2012

Thanks to generous donations from the community, Shared Blessings (Agape House) continues to impact the San Saba area. Besides providing clothing, shoes, house-wares, books and toys at very low prices, this outreach of The Father's House also contributes to our town's "green" effort. Old t-shirts are bundled and sold for cleaning purposes and outdated or worn books as well as boxes are recycled. Clothing items not used are bagged and sold to a Dallas based charity group that bundles items from all across Texas and ships them to 3rd world countries. It is good to know many of our donated items continue to be used for good purposes outside our own community. With the effort of the dedicated staff and faithful volunteers, hundreds of pounds of clothing are processed each year. Their careful distribution of these items assure the San Saba landfill is not burdened by the overflow of the discarded items.Below are some suggestions for donating that will help the staff with processing items.•Donated items should be bagged or boxed.•Donations should be placed in the drop box in the back of Shared Blessings at 607 S. Cherokee (donations left outside the building may be stolen.)•Donations of good and clean items are requested; dirty, stained or torn clothing is not usable.•Housewares should be clean and unbroken and electrical items in good working condition.•Small furniture pieces can be donated (call Jerry at 372-4290) but no mattresses or large sofas. The staff invites you to come by and see the changes made to the building and see how the space is used to process the many donations they receive each week. While you are there, check out the great re-sale selections! Come be surprised!
