Parents, I do believe we have a reason to be concerned. The reason to be concerned is something called Myspace and its counterpart, Facebook. These are both web sites that anyone can go to and put anything they want on this site. It is a place where friends meet to discuss the happenings in their lives and what they are doing.

This site is one that is very private, however. You may set up an account and put something on there and the only ones that get to it are the ones that you give permission to open the account. These are set up with passwords and if you do not have permission you don’t get on the site. Therefore, as a parent, you do not have the right to go there. I have in the past been on Myspace and have seen some of the vilest, raunchiest and most detestable language and pictures that you could ever imagine. My question is, do we know what our children are doing on Myspace or Facebook?

We live in a day and time that our children are constantly bombarded by evil things. As parents we are the ones who have the opportunity and the responsibility to police what our children do. If your child does not want you to see his/her site, there could be something evil posted there. It may be that they have certain pictures or are using certain language that is inappropriate. It may be that some of the friends that can open their site are using this kind of language. If they are exposed to enough of it, there is always the possibility that they could be led into sin.

Sometimes there are pedophiles that get to these sites and pretend to be children and set up meeting places for the children to go. It seems innocent but you never know who is on the other end of a conversation. Although they may say they are 16 they may be 44. And if a child is very trusting the pedophile could do something awful to your child.

I would like to think that all of our children are being protected. I know that you are doing your best. You are probably aware of much of what I have said, but if not, be warned!
