STATE BOUND! Congratulations to Sam Martin and Bobby Hamilton, who will be representing Cherokee at the State CX Debate competition in Austin on March 12-13. Sam received the district’s Best Speaker award and Bobby got 2nd best speaker. The young men also competed in a CX debate in Lampasas this past Saturday, coming away with another 2nd place trophy!Recently, Senior Ryan Breadner and Junior Stephen Austermann traveled Round Rock to attend the International Bowl. Ryan had the opportunity to meet the head coach of The University of Saskatchewan. Ryan plans to go to the University to play football and major in Agriculture. Science Fair awards were given out at the past PTC meeting. Congratulations to all students for doing such a great job.In basketball news, the Lady Indians played Lohn on Friday to determine who would advance to the bi-district round. The Lady Indians played hard but were, unfortunately, defeated by the Lady Eagles. The Indians played their final game of the season on Tuesday night at home against the Lometa Hornets. Sheriff Brown shared a bullying program with all CISD students last Friday. Policies have been set in place and parents are encouraged to talk to their children about it.All students and faculty will be having school holidays on February 23-24.
