County receives emergency funds to repair courthouse rain damage

The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held Monday, February 13th at 9 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge, Byron Theodosis called the Court to Order and welcomed everyone. Commissioner, Rickey Lusty, gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.Judge Theodosis informed the Court that the county has received an Emergency Funds Award from the Texas Historical Commission. Attorney David Williams and Judge Theodosis applied for the award to repair roof, ceiling and floor damage from rains mostly on the third floor of the Courthouse directly above the County Judge’s Chambers. County Sheriff, Allen Brown, distributed copies of the Annual Racial Profiling Report from the County Sheriff’s Department. The report included 313 total citations for the year and other information. At the present time there are six prisoners in the county jail and six in jail out of the county. Sheriff Brown will be posting NO TRESPASSING signs on the jail property. All property (except the parking lot and entrance for those doing business at the jail) around the jail will be posted and those trespassing will be arrested. Attorney David Williams questioned the “legality” of the EMS Board and checked the rules and regulations while the age on the third floor of the courthouse. Attorney Williams recommendationwas to rename the EMS Board to be the EMS Advisory Committee. The Court accepted the recommendation.The following County Official and Departmental reports were approved subject to audit: County Clerk, County Treasurer, County Justice of the Peace, and County Sheriff and Jail reports. Commissioner, Kenley Kroll, verified the monthly jail report with an average of 11.8 prisoners. The following non-action departmental reports were accepted: County Extension Agents, County Trapper and other departments. With regrets, the court accepted the resignation from Cissy Williams on the EMS Advisory Committee. The court appointed Commissioner, Otis Judkins to the EMS Advisory Committee. Commissioner Judkins resigned as a member of the Economic Development Commission. The court will request the EDC to appoint Commissioner Pat Pool to fill the remainder of Commissioner Judkins’ term.The Court took action on the following items:1. Approved the minutes of the previous Commissioners Court.2. Approved the Accounts Payables presented by County Treasurer.3. Set the next Commissioners Court to be Tuesday, February 28th at 9 a.m.The County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins and County Judge Theodosis will be informing all county employees to report the actual hours they work on their timesheets. Judge Theodosis adjourned the Court. In attendance at the Court were: County Judge, Byron Theodosis; County Commissioners, Pat Pool, Kenley Kroll, Rickey Lusty, Otis Judkins; County Clerk, Kim Wells; County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins; County Sheriff, Allen Brown; County Coordinator/Indigent Director, Marsha Hardy; Administrative Assistant, Cathi Miles; Chief Deputy, Bill Price; Attorney, David Williams, and San Saba News & Star Reporter, Alice Smith.
