Thursday, February 16, 2012 • Posted February 16, 2012

Richland Springs High School has cast their competition UIL, One Act Play for the 2012 season. Starring in Steel Magnolias will be Sara Hedley, senior, as M’Lynn; Katelynn Teel, junior, as Shelby; Brooklyn McGinty, junior, as Ouiser; Brooke Vaughn, sophomore, as Truvy; DeAnna Grady, sophomore, as Annelle; and Melanie Hedley, sophomore, as Clairee. The crew and alternates will include: Denim Reeves, stage manager; Thomas Fowler, light technician; Nick Moore, sound technician; Jonathan Patino, Courtney Herbert, Gunner Mann, Remy Wood, and Ashlynn Grady. The play takes place during the 1980’s in Louisiana in a beauty shop where a group of gossipy southern ladies gather and become friends. It is a story of joy, of loss, and of growth both personal and communal. In less than ideal circumstances, the play has a message of hope and builds to a conclusion that is deeply moving. RSHS will present the play for the public on Sunday afternoon, March 18, 2012.
