William "Bill" Dean Wise
Thursday, February 2, 2012 • Posted February 2, 2012

William Dean Wise, “Bill” as he’s known to us, arrived kicking and screaming on February 19, 1957, and passed quietly from this life December 27, 2011, at the all too young age of 54. Preceded in death by father, William H. Wise and mother, Dorothy Ann Taylor Wise. Bill leaves behind Marlene, his wife of 31 years; sister, Lori Wise Adams; uncle, Raymond Wise; cousins, Frank Taylor, William Taylor, Robert Taylor, and Gary Wise along with several nieces, including Staci Patterson and Brea Adams, and nephew Brayden Adams. He also leaves behind far too many friends to count. With a wry smile and mischievous glint in his eye Bill gave full measure as a friend, a husband and as a man. Going full tilt in his love of all things fast, from following the American Freedom Train , flying a Cessna or Apache, trips to “The Brick Yard,” stretching out the roads to his beloved Double Diamond Ranch to the seats at “Texas Motor Speedway,” slow only applied to his scuba diving and the hours hunting on his Hill Country ranch. “Excitingly smart, fast, furious, methodical, never knew a stranger, ever faithful” – these are adjectives friends and colleagues use to describe Bill and the life he lived and still lives in our hearts. A pilot, photographer, motorcyclist, diver, engineer and hunter, he was determined to overcome each challenge. A while back a ranch accident broke his back, kept him caged in his “turtle shell” for six months, but in typical Bill fashion, it couldn’t stop his ascent of a New Mexico mountain. As a seasoned Broadcast Engineer, he was one of the “two pros from Dover” who led the charge to install a new transmitter in the Empire State Building for CBS broadcasting in the wake of the 9-11 Terror attacks. With the same gusto he worked on frequency co-ordination for broadcasters during the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas and also for the first Super Bowl in Cowboy Stadium, doing the job he truly loved – Making Television. An Eagle Scout, graduate of Richardson High School, DeVry trained, Certified Professional Broadcast Engineer and long term member of the Society of Broadcast engineers he constantly found new ways to use his knowledge and talents. He has put out his hand and touched the face of God and now, with his faith’s reward stands with the Lord. Grinning Bill has ascended the final summit. A memorial party was held Saturday January 7, 2012. Friends and family gathered together to share stories and memories. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project
