The Armadillos hosted the Hico Tigers on Jan. 17. Both teams got off to a slow start offensively with each team scoring 6 points in the first quarter. The second quarter wouldn’t be much different with the Dillos scoring 7 and Hico scoring 8. The Dillos trailed 13-14 at the half. The second half yield more scoring by both teams as each team doubled their first half scoring. This one came down to the wire with Hico edging the Dillos with a score of 43-41. We shot the ball well from the two-point range going 14 of 26 for 53%. Clayton Perry led the Dillos with 12 points, Luke Cox had 11 points, Ryan Pannell had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Kelan Verette added 3 points, J.T. Mathis had 3 points, and Tanner Hawkins had 2 points.On Jan. 20, the Dillos traveled to Comanche. This game would be a little faster paced game because Comanche is a full court pressing team from tip off to final buzzer. In the first quarter, Comanche jumped out to a 16-12 lead. In the second quarter the Dillos went a little cold and only scored four points in the quarter and Comanche took a 33-16 lead at the half. In the second half the Dillos got on track and scored 32 points to Comanche’s 25 and cut their lead to 10. Comanche won the game 48-58. Luke Cox led the Dillos with 16 points, Clayton Perry had 12 points, Tanner Hawkins had 7 points, J.T. Mathis had 4 points, Ryan Guidroz had 3 points, and Zack Davis, Aaron Perez, and Ryan Pannell had 2 points. The Dillos will host Early on Jan. 24 and will travel to Dublin on Jan. 27.
